Blog Post Week 10/post-mortem

What went right with your game project?

- The whole project

I believe a lot of things went right with the project. We all knew what we wanted to do and stuck to it. The modeling went really well, we all did are share of modeling, and combine all of what we had into the scene. I feel that once we starting laying out the room and putting the assets in, the project started to come to life and everything was solid from there. We were able to get a fire particle going in the engine, which was really good, and get an animation going for the door to open. The whole room was then given wall and floor texture, so in my opinion there weren’t many problems with it I feel we made a good project.

What went wrong with your game project?

- The textures

Not much went wrong with the project, at least not nothing major that we couldn’t fix. We did have problems with the assets textures, because some of which were being a little stubborn to go in the engine of unreal. The room’s wall texture needed to be changed and the assets needed to be redone for the final, but everything worked out good in the end.

What did your team learn from this experience?

I believe that we learn Unreal a little bit better and got used to the engine. We learn that hard work pays off. We worked as a team and combine our skills to make a good room.

What did you learn from this project?

I learn how to use UDK better. The project has helped me to model better and use unreal better. I got a fire particle and studied the kismet more, so I would say I feel stronger in modeling and unreal. I also learn that if you have a creative mind and a great team you can do anything.

What task(s) did you complete on the game project?

I spent my time working on the room and modeling some of the assets. The assets that I done was modeled, textured, and completed, so they were ready for the engine. My assets were completed and I was happy with the results, with my group we split up the asset list and it made things a lot easier for us. The layout of the room was all our task and I helped out a lot.

Think about everything that you did on this project, what grade would yourself and why?

Well I may give myself….a B, because I know my work is not professional work and I do need to work on my texturing more. I admit I have some work to do and I can admit when something is not my strong suit, but my texturing was not that good, but it could be better and I want to be better so my models will always look good.

Blog post week 6

- What stages of the project am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
I am currently working in the brainstorming stages for the new layout of our room and designing new assets for the room. We mainly are thinking of a way to make the room look better than before.

- Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
We all have new milstone goals. The new assets will go into the room with the previous assets we put in. The previous assets however will be modified to look better for the new layout of the room.

- How did I deal with the problems that came up?
There are no problems right now, My group and I are modeling and planning things out, so I feel that there are no serious problems right now.

- What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
The modeling is coming along and working well, but the planing of the new layout is taking some time to do. We really want to make this room look awesome, so the planning really needs to be thought out.

I am modeling the new assets and re-working some of my old assets, but so far I have no problems.

Blog post week 5

-What stages of the project am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?Me and my group turned in our project 1, and to be honest I am not to happy. I thought that this room looked really good, but the layout was not good. We are looking to continue the project and make it better some how. The project is being redesign as we speak. There is much to improve over the next five weeks.

-Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
The milestone is being recontructed right now, I am sure once we figure out our new plan for the treasure room, the milestones will be the same.

-How did I deal with the problems that came up?
For the longest I thought there was no problem. The room did however had some problems with the coins being layout.

-What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
Everything has worked, but nothing seems to be good enough. Our level is working good, but the layout design needs work for the final.

-Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc).I spent my time modeling the assets for the room and designing the room. I worked on the layout of the room and I was upset with myself on how the result came out. I feel bad about it.

- Evaluate the project as a whole including team members.
Jhericka and Mike are a great team. I enjoy working with them.
