Blog Post Week 10/post-mortem

What went right with your game project?

- The whole project

I believe a lot of things went right with the project. We all knew what we wanted to do and stuck to it. The modeling went really well, we all did are share of modeling, and combine all of what we had into the scene. I feel that once we starting laying out the room and putting the assets in, the project started to come to life and everything was solid from there. We were able to get a fire particle going in the engine, which was really good, and get an animation going for the door to open. The whole room was then given wall and floor texture, so in my opinion there weren’t many problems with it I feel we made a good project.

What went wrong with your game project?

- The textures

Not much went wrong with the project, at least not nothing major that we couldn’t fix. We did have problems with the assets textures, because some of which were being a little stubborn to go in the engine of unreal. The room’s wall texture needed to be changed and the assets needed to be redone for the final, but everything worked out good in the end.

What did your team learn from this experience?

I believe that we learn Unreal a little bit better and got used to the engine. We learn that hard work pays off. We worked as a team and combine our skills to make a good room.

What did you learn from this project?

I learn how to use UDK better. The project has helped me to model better and use unreal better. I got a fire particle and studied the kismet more, so I would say I feel stronger in modeling and unreal. I also learn that if you have a creative mind and a great team you can do anything.

What task(s) did you complete on the game project?

I spent my time working on the room and modeling some of the assets. The assets that I done was modeled, textured, and completed, so they were ready for the engine. My assets were completed and I was happy with the results, with my group we split up the asset list and it made things a lot easier for us. The layout of the room was all our task and I helped out a lot.

Think about everything that you did on this project, what grade would yourself and why?

Well I may give myself….a B, because I know my work is not professional work and I do need to work on my texturing more. I admit I have some work to do and I can admit when something is not my strong suit, but my texturing was not that good, but it could be better and I want to be better so my models will always look good.
